Year 2 Botanists for the Day at Wisley! 🌱🧑‍🔬

Last Friday, our Year 2 children had the most inspiring day exploring the incredible gardens at RHS Wisley. Stepping confidently into the role of budding botanists, they immersed themselves in hands-on science learning from the moment they arrived.

Throughout the day, the children observed a wide range of plants up close, sketched detailed scientific diagrams, and explored the different stages of a plant’s life cycle. They particularly enjoyed planting their own seeds and collecting plant pickings—experiences that brought their classroom learning vividly to life.

Their curiosity was evident in the thoughtful questions they asked, and their behaviour was exemplary throughout. Staff and Wisley educators alike commented on how engaged, focused and enthusiastic the children were - real scientists in the making!

Year 2 Lead Miss Bernatek shared her pride in the children:
“It was wonderful to see the children so absorbed in their learning. Their excitement, careful observation and brilliant scientific vocabulary made us incredibly proud. They approached every activity with such enthusiasm—true botanists for the day!”

A huge well done to our Year 2 pupils for representing the school so beautifully and for embracing every learning opportunity with such positivity. What a fantastic day of discovery!
