Year One
Year 1 Information
Welcome to Year 1

This is Year 1's information page where you can find all relevant information regarding your child's class and daily routines.
Support Staff:
- Mrs Lynch
- Mrs McMahon
PE:
On the day that your child is having their outdoor PE session they must come to school in their PE kits. During winter months, please ensure your child also has their school jumper. On your child’s indoor PE session, they must bring their PE kit to school to change into.
The school P.E kit worn should be as follows: their house-coloured t-shirt, school jumper and unbranded black or navy bottom. Please ensure children are not wearing jewellery on their PE day or are able to remove these themselves as an adult cannot for them. Please make sure clothing is appropriate to match the weather as often our PE lessons will be outdoors. Please make sure everything is labelled, as we do not want the children to lose any belongings when changing for P.E in school.
Please see below a timetable of your child's PE sessions:
| Class | P.E Lesson (Indoor) - Bring PE kit to school. | P.E Lesson (Outdoor) - Wear PE kit to school. |
| 1G | Thursday | Wednesday |
| 1B | Thursday | Wednesday |
| 1P | Monday | Wednesday |
Snacks:
Free Fruit is provided for the children to have as a healthy snack at break times, if you wish your child can bring in their own healthy snack (fruit). Children to come to school with a water bottle (containing water only, not squash or juice) which can be refilled throughout the school day.
Homework:
We expect children to read every day and to have at least three reading comments recorded in their reading diary each week.
At the front of your child's reading diary, you will find a set of reading challenges for them to complete. Each time a challenge is completed, please colour in the corresponding star.
As a reward at special times of the year, we may wish to watch a PG rated movie in class. If you do not want your child to participate, please let your child’s class teacher know.
Books to take home:
Children on a Friday will come home with their book that they have been reading in their small group in school.
Children will also choose a book from our class Book Corner’s to share at home as a ‘Love for Reading’ book. This is a book they have chosen for you to enjoy together.
In Year 1, there is a phonics screening check in June to ensure all children are able to decode using the phonemes they learn in their Phonics lessons.
