Welcome from the Headteacher

It is a real privilege to welcome you to Aragon Primary School.

Aragon is a happy, ambitious and inclusive school where children are encouraged to “Be the best we can be.” This isn’t just a motto for us – it’s something we live and breathe every day. We want every child to do well, but just as importantly, to feel confident in who they are and secure in what they can achieve. Success looks different for every child, and we celebrate that.

When people visit Aragon, they often tell us they can feel the warmth of the school straight away. They notice the smiles, the calm atmosphere, the excellent behaviour, and the way children and staff treat each other with respect and kindness. There is a real sense of belonging here, and a shared belief that every child matters.

We believe that a great primary education should be both challenging and joyful. Our children benefit from high-quality teaching, a carefully planned and ambitious curriculum, and a wide range of experiences that bring learning to life. These include clubs, sport, music, trips, visitors and hands-on opportunities that help children discover new interests and talents. We are also thrilled to be an OPAL Platinum School, placing us in the top 2% nationally for the quality of our play provision. Play is a vital part of childhood, and we are committed to making it rich, inclusive and full of imagination.

We are very proud of our pupils’ achievements. Outcomes are consistently strong from the Early Years through to Year 6, and our children regularly achieve above national averages. But for us, education is about much more than results. We want children to leave Aragon with confidence, curiosity, resilience and a strong sense of who they are.

Our values of ambition, belonging, curiosity, kindness and responsibility run through everything we do. We have high expectations of both learning and behaviour because we believe every child deserves to learn in a calm, safe and respectful environment. We are also deeply inclusive and work hard to ensure that every child is supported, included and able to succeed in their own way.

If you are considering Aragon for your child, I hope our website gives you a genuine sense of what we are about. We know that choosing a school is a hugely important decision, and we never take the trust families place in us for granted. We work closely with parents and carers so that every child is known well, supported carefully and able to flourish from the very start of their journey with us.
