Celebrating Vyshyvanka Day

On Thursday 15th May, we were proud to join in the celebration of Vyshyvanka Day, a special occasion that honours Ukrainian identity, heritage and culture.

Vyshyvanka Day is marked by the wearing of traditional embroidered shirts known as vyshyvanka, each one beautifully crafted and rich in meaning. These garments are a symbol of national pride and a celebration of Ukrainian history, artistry and resilience.

Some of our wonderful Ukrainian pupils came to school dressed in their vyshyvanka, proudly sharing a piece of their culture with our school community. It was a joy to see the vibrant colours and intricate embroidery, and a meaningful reminder of the beauty and strength found in cultural traditions.

We thank our Ukrainian families for helping us to learn more about this important day and for giving us the opportunity to celebrate with them.
