Bringing Art and Poetry to Life: Our Contribution to 'Make Merton Merry'

This week, our school was delighted to take part in the borough-wide ‘Make Merton Merry’ project, an exciting year-long initiative funded by Merton Council. This fantastic project is designed to connect local artists with schools and businesses, working together to create stunning artistic displays that will be exhibited throughout the borough.
Thanks to the dedication of Mrs Curl, we had the privilege of welcoming artist Nadia Thompson to our school. Thirty pupils, representing all year groups, had the unique opportunity to collaborate with Nadia on a truly inspiring piece of artwork titled The Tree of Hopes & Dreams. This wonderful creation merges poetry and visual art, with each leaf of the tree carrying words of hope and aspiration written by our pupils.
The experience was both engaging and thought-provoking, allowing our children to express their creativity while reflecting on their dreams for the future. Under Nadia’s guidance, they explored the power of words and artistic expression, culminating in a piece that beautifully represents their collective imagination and positivity.
Once we receive confirmation of where The Tree of Hopes & Dreams will be displayed, we will share the details so you can see this remarkable piece for yourself. We are incredibly proud of our pupils for their enthusiasm and creativity, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be part of this inspiring community project.
Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s continue to celebrate the power of art and poetry in bringing our community together!
