Year One

Year 1 Information

Welcome to Year 1

This is Year 1's information page where you can find all relevant information regarding your child's class and daily routines.

Support Staff:
  • Miss Grimes
  • Mrs Lynch
  • Miss Triggs
PE:

On the day that your child is having their outdoor PE session they must come to school in their PE kits. During winter months, please ensure your child also has their school jumper. On your child’s indoor PE session, they must bring their PE kit to school to change into.

The school P.E kit worn should be as follows: their house-coloured t-shirt, school jumper and unbranded black or navy bottom. Please ensure children are not wearing jewellery on their PE day or are able to remove these themselves as an adult cannot for them. Please make sure clothing is appropriate to match the weather as often our PE lessons will be outdoors. Please make sure everything is labelled, as we do not want the children to lose any belongings when changing for P.E in school.

Please see below a timetable of your child's PE sessions:

Class P.E Lesson (Indoor) - Bring PE kit to school. P.E Lesson (Outdoor) - Wear PE kit to school.
1B Tuesday Wednesday
1G Friday Wednesday
1T Tuesday Thursday
Snacks:

We warmly encourage your child to bring a healthy snack to enjoy during their breaktime and free fruit is provided for them. All children are strongly advised to come to school with a water bottle (containing water only) which can be refilled throughout the school day.

Homework:

Work to do at home is set every Friday and due by the following Tuesday. Spelling check happens every Friday.

Books to take home:

The children will change their books weekly. On a Monday, each child chooses a sharing book.  Your child will not be able to read this on their own. This book is for you both to read and enjoy together. On a Friday, your child will bring home a reading practice book. This will be at the correct phonic stage for your child. They should be able to read this fluently and independently.

Information:

Children should bring in their water bottles every day. In Year 1, there is a phonics screening check in June to ensure all children are able to decode using the phonemes they learn in their Phonics lessons.
